Conduit
by Sun Keting and Lico Li Kehua
London Sinfonietta Writing for Future Commissioned
What happens when the world we know begins to shift slowly, then all at once?
Conduit begins in a world of stillness and tradition. The instruments are
acoustic, and the space is grounded and familiar. But slowly, that world
starts to shift. Electronics emerge—first as extensions, then as disruptions.
The performers move. The ground becomes unstable. As the piece unfolds,
chaos rises, and systems break down, yet something delicate remains.
At the centre of this work is a reflection on the fragility of what we carry as
humans — our ability to connect, to care, to love. It is not romantic love, but
something quieter: tender, intangible, and easily drowned out in noise. This
piece doesn’t try to rescue it. It simply follows its shape — as it’s buried,
tested, and reappears in a new form.
Created in collaboration with choreographer Lico Kehua Li and designer PK,
the work lives between movement, sound, and space. I hope it’s a piece
that is felt, breathed, and held together by bodies in transformation.
